KCRG-TV Launches New “State Of The Art” HD News Set!

Cedar Rapids, IA: With much anticipation, preparation and excitement, KCRG-TV launched their new, state of the art HD News Set design on Saturday, January 21, 2012.

“We are very proud to have launched our local news broadcasts in high definition with a brand new and exciting state-of-the art news set from Devlin Design Group” ~ Paul R. Staman, Senior Director-Operations, Source Media Group

From the large 260″ wide rear projection screen, to the latest in touch screen technology, KCRG’s innovative HD Broadcast News Set is definitely establishing new standards for their market.

The new set features the “KCRG-TV9 Touchpoint” interactive touch screen.  At 112″ wide, the “KCRG-TV9 Touchpoint” is the largest interactive touch screen of its kind in the U.S. and third largest in the world. The large touch screen will be used for weather as well as other interactive storytelling.

“Our set designs are moving towards bigger, more visual and interactive elements, such as: large video walls, large RPS screens and the interactive touch screen like we implemented at KCRG. We believe that these types of components are currently the essential elements to today’s news environment.”  ~ Dan Devlin, Creative Director, Devlin Design Group.

Another design element that really defined the look of the new KCRG News set is the diffused acrylic panel design in the WX Center. The diffused acrylic panel, with it’s custom etch-lite graphics, conceals the weather center work stations but keeps the staff close to the action in times of severe weather.

“I have anchored the news from many different sets over the years at KCRG-TV9, but I can say Devlin Design Group really delivered on this one! We have so many multi-purpose areas, so our news team can be creative and interactive every night!” ~Bruce Aune, News Anchor KCRG-TV9.
