BACK TO PRESS RELEASES
WBZ, Boston, MA
6/1/2002

Boston, Massachusetts - For the first time, Boston's CBS O&O, WBZ-TV 4 will experiment the virtual set technology for its newscast, attempting something dynamic yet adaptable and consistent to its vision.  After completing WBZ-TV’s hard set design installation last fall, Devlin Design Group (DDG) will be integrating its SoftSet hybrid set - virtual elements incorporated into the hard-set design.

Jim Priest, Art Director, WBZ-TV is especially excited about the creative possibilities and versatility that DDG's SoftSet solution has to offer.  “We ask a lot of our news set.  It needs to provide an environment for a variety of uses.  Devlin's virtual set will give us the flexibility we need to present our product in a unique, complementary way," says Priest.

This groundbreaking solution provides broadcasters “True 3D” Real Time VR capabilities, complete with high quality News, Sports and Special Events sets.  By incorporating DDG’s innovative SoftSet environments, the VS2000 keys live actors with other video effects, in real time, offered at an unparalleled value – it’s the lowest price available to end-users in the VR industry’s history.

WBZ is owned and operated by the CBS Corporation. New England’s first commercial television station and the largest combined TV, radio & out-of-home media entity in history.  Programming entails local, national, world, SciTech, showbiz, politics, and money.
