KCRG-TV Reveals New HD News Set!

This past weekend one of Cedar Rapids best kept secret was revealed! The much anticipated new KCRG HD News Set finally went on-air over the weekend!

“We are very proud to have launched our local news broadcasts in high definition with a brand new and exciting state-of-the-art news set from Devlin Design Group”  Paul R. Staman, Senior Director-Operations, Source Media Group.

From the large 260” wide rear projection screen to the latest in touch screen technology, KCRG’s new HD Broadcast News set is setting new standards in their market. The main background features the large rear projection screen that will enable them to display everything from graphics to special news segments.

The new studio also includes the "KCRG-TV9 Touchpoint,” interactive touch screen.  At 112” wide, the “KCRG-TV9 Touchpoint” is the largest interactive touch screen of its kind in the U.S. and third largest in the world. The touch screen will be used for weather and other interactive storytelling.

“I have anchored the news from many different sets over the years at KCRG-TV9, but I can say Devlin Design Group really delivered on this one! We have so many multi-purpose areas, so our news team can be creative and interactive every night in the new, state-of-the-art studio!” KCRG anchor, Bruce Aune.

The set design itself accents the HD technology and the custom finishes and metallics meld nicely with the overall look. A diffused acrylic panel, with custom etch-lite graphics, conceals the in-studio working weather lab stations but keeps the staff close to the action in times of severe weather.
